Heating, cooling and ventilation for Fullerton houses and businesses — installed to a standard that passes, with the permit, the testing and the documents that go with it.
Diagnosed with instruments and priced in writing before anything is replaced. We tell you the cause, not only the part, because the cause decides whether it happens again.
Service
Annual for most houses, twice a year for most businesses, with the readings recorded rather than ticked so the third year has something to compare against.
Replacement
Sized from the building with a load calculation, permitted, and tested afterwards. In this state that last part is not optional and it is not an upsell.
Ducts and airflow
Sealing, repairs and measurement. Duct leakage testing is part of what a compliant alteration involves here, which makes it the one place where the rules and good practice agree completely.
Ventilation
Extract that moves real air, and a deliberate fresh-air route in houses that have been tightened up by newer windows and better sealing.
The part nobody explains
A permit is not a formality and it is not a tax
It is the thing that makes somebody test the work, and it is what a buyer's agent asks about when you sell.
Plenty of equipment in this county was changed out without one. It is not usually done to deceive anybody — it is quicker, and nobody asks until the day somebody does. The permits page sets out what typically needs one, what testing usually comes with it, and what you should be handed at the end.
In most California jurisdictions a system changeout is an alteration and is normally permitted, and the state energy standards commonly require independent HERS verification with it. What applies to your property is decided by your own city or county building department — the permits page lists the questions to ask them.
What is a HERS rater?
An independent third party certified to verify certain measures — most often duct leakage, and frequently refrigerant charge or airflow. They are deliberately not the installing contractor. If verification applies to your job, you should end up with a registered certificate.
What if my existing equipment was changed without a permit?
It is very common and it is usually resolvable. It matters most when you sell, and it is far easier to deal with before a buyer's agent raises it. We will tell you what we can see about what was installed; closing it out is a conversation with your city.
Is duct sealing worth doing?
In this housing stock, usually yes — it is often the cheapest real improvement available. It is also the work most closely tied to the energy standards, so the paperwork and the good idea point the same way for once.
Do you work on commercial premises?
Yes. Shops, studios, clinics, restaurants and small industrial units, including tenant improvement work where the sequencing of landlord consent, plan check and permit matters as much as the mechanical design.
